And some FAQ's about me:

Why did you choose Real Estate instead of a normal job?   For a few reasons.

1 - I knew that after 20 years of being my own boss that I would make a terrible employee.  I'm used to being in charge, doing things my own way, and motivating myself.

2 - I wanted a career where my earnings would be tied to inflation and my own work ethic.

3 - I also knew that, having been involved with theater for so long, most of my clients would come from that circle of friends.  Those are the type of people I love to work with, and if I 'm able to help them with a complicated and stressful project like a home purchase or sale, I feel like I'm taking good care of my friends.

Why do you advertise in Community Theater programs?   I've been participating in Community Theater most of my life, and now that I need to advertise what I do for a living, I decided to take the opportunity to support the organizations I love.

What do you mostly do in theater?   I am an actor, singer, dancer, juggler, and magician, but for the last 20 years I've been focusing on directing.  These days, I mostly direct large scale musicals, like Oliver!, The Music Man, and A Chorus Line.  I've worked with most of the theaters in ABQ at one point or another, but have been very close to Landmark Musicals for the past decade.

Do you think Real Estate is similar to directing in Community Theater?  Oh yes, excellent question, I'm glad you asked.  Both pursuits are project oriented, with many moving parts, personalities that may need to be ... guided, tons of details, and an opening night AKA closing date!  I didn't realize how much directing was preparing me for my new career as a Realtor, but it definitely did.

Do you enjoy your job?  YES.

What's the best part of being a Realtor?  I enjoy many parts of my job, but the best part is the new relationships I've been able to develop.  Lots of my clients come to me as referrals from friends, and many of those clients have become friends too.

What's the worst part of being a Realtor?  I suppose the paperwork, but it really isn't that bad.  I just turn on my reggae music and get it done.

How long will you be a Realtor?  Forever.  Unless Wendy and I retire to Hawaii.

What do you want to be when you grow up?  A grandpa!

What did you do before Real Estate?  For 20 years, my wife Wendy and I ran a technical business called Valyn VIP.  We supplied big laboratories with Fiber Optic Test Equipment, and our clients included Sandia Labs, Los Alamos National Labs, and NASA, as well as several other clients in labs around the world.
